New web site yay! by Tina Rodas

This is a momentous occasion. After almost 7 years of being in business I finally have MY OWN website. That I built. Say whaaaat? Yes, It has literally taken me FOREVER to accomplish but I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF. Add "web designer" to my list of skills and duties.

I'm still getting used to this fancy new blog engine for new blog posts. Luckily I was able to import my old blogger posts here. You will find those below.

A few exciting things happening. Here's the short list:

Hi Tree is currently featured in the latest issue of Stuffed Magazine. This is a super cute magazine packed with great plush artists. I'm so honored they chose me to be in the issue.

Also, photographer Jack Strutz came by my home studio for his photo series "A Day Spent".

"If the LA based home studio of plush maker Tina Rodas was a person, it would be the identical twin Tina never knew she had."

Yes, I agree with you, Jack. Thank you. It looks like a unicorn puked all over my studio.

That's all for now. Please click around the site and let me know if you find and bugs or have any suggestions. You can email me at

hi Mr. Pine Tree! by Tina Rodas

Yesterday was a big day over here at hi tree. I had an IDEA. Sometimes those can be few and far between and other times they just flow like water.

Let me break it down for you. I had an Idea, then this happened.

I think it's rather fantastic, but I'm a little crazy so just bare with me here. I've retired the old pine tree design indefinitely and in it's place will be this little guy. He is now available for purchase in my store

He has been sitting on my work table since I completed him yesterday and every time I leave the room I hear a tiny voice singing, I quickly turn around and catch him singing songs about pinecones. What is up with that?

Also, I made a new notebook design.

Setting up for the North East Los Angeles Art Walk in my dear friend Sonia Romeros studio.

There was a popcorn fight and naturally I decided it would be a good idea to go swimming in the popcorn.

And now for some pictures of my studio/ work space.

Little mushroom pins that go with the Tree Stump Pincushion.

I don't know what I would do with out this Ikea shelf.

That's all for now!

Hello earthlings! As I type this I am sitting on a GIANT rock flying through space at approximately 66,600 miles per hour. There also appears to be a giant flaming ball of gas near by, it looks pretty hot. I don't think we should get too close. MIND BLOWN.

I'm releasing a ton of new spring stuff. Yay! Here are some of the items you can now find in the store.

Unicorn Murder. by Tina Rodas

I just wanted to give you a little heads up. There has been some drama in hi tree land this week. Hazel here is very upset with me because I killed her favorite unicorn friend. The little bastard was chasing all of the humming birds away in the yard and I just couldn't TAKE IT ANYMORE. Personally I think she needs to put HER MAN PANTS ON but she won't speak to me and I am sure she is hurling insults at me behind my back. I wanted to tell you before she did.

BUT because I am nice, let's take a moment of silence to remember the 3 unicorns that lost their lives this week. It will help her on her road to recovery. According to google there are 7 stages of grieving. I think she is working through stage 3, anger and bargaining, so we've got a ways to go.

Enough about that!

In other news: The giant Hazel doll is up for sale in my shop. We both know you want her. You probably have a child, but you want her for YOURSELF. I know your type too well.

LAST but certainly not least, If you made it this far in the post then you get a reward. Because, lord only knows I bore you all of you to death with my rambling. So how about a FREE SHIPPING coupon code? This is a golden opportunity to buy ALL of your christmas presents and pay $0 shipping. The magical coupon code is happyhalloween and it is valid until Monday November 7.

OMG Cute Overload? by Tina Rodas

OH Hi! How is it going?

Don't answer that. You'll only be talking to yourself, because I can't hear you.

Warning: this is an image heavy post, make sure your

etch a sketch is optimized for the awesomeness you are about to experience.

Look what my sewing machine and I have been up to lately. We are such good friends. We've been making a lot of dolls, including the four foot tall one pictured above. I may be 30 years old, but when I see a cute doll I squeal like a 7 year old. It's like I never grew up; which I didn't, but that is another story.

I am having so much fun making dolls. I love the process of perfecting the design. I am still in the early stages of flushing out any design issues, but it's coming along beautifully.

And in other news, EAR HATS ARE BACK! I know, it's SO exciting. You've been waiting all year.

In case you lack the creative ability to figure out what to do with this AWESOME hat, let me give you a few helpful hints:

1. Hiding in the woods (you will blend right in with the rest of the wildlife)

2. Disguise yourself from your kids! they will think that Ewah came and hijacked their parents!

3. Keep your head warm (duh)

4. When the zombie apocalypse happens the zombies won't recognize you as human! your safe!

5. Halloween?

6. This ear hat is 100% guaranteed to help you find your spirit animal.

Notebooks! These are reusable composition notebook covers. Aren't they cute? YES, YES

THEY ARE. They even have pockets inside.

And then this happened:

LAST but not LEAST, let us not forget about our feathery friends.

I'll be announcing a Holiday sale next week, so be sure to check back. Let's just say I would like to reward you for making your christmas purchases early so my head doesn't explode in December.

I need a nap.
